The coronavirus lockdown hit the tourism industry the most. Since the time lockdown has come into effect, major tourist destinations across India have suffered massive losses amounting to Rs 25,000 crores. Most of the resorts lost 90% of their business turnover in last 6 months. Close to 10-20% of the resorts also had to shut down due to no business. Similarly not only just the resorts but even small and big travel agents have suffered a lot. No sale of holiday packages meant no business for them too. Similarly the tourist vehicles who did transfers and sightseeing duties also suffered. Many who purchased the vehicles on loans found it difficult to pay their EMI’s. The staff which worked at the hotel, the cooks, the receptionists, the cleaners the hotel boys everyone lost their jobs and were forced to return to their hometown. So its the entire industry right from the resort owners to the hotel staff to the travel agents to transportation, everyone have suffered financially since the time lockdown has come into effect.

However, good or bad, nothing lasts forever. The tourism industry has started and so has Goa, one of the biggest travel destinations of India. The resorts have started operating, the casinos are now opened, official travel to goa has began and the roadways are also open with no covid testing required. The other tourist attractions of Goa including the major beaches, casinos and other sightseeing spots have also resumed with due permission from the Goa Goverment.
